Data Free Betting Apps in South Africa 2026

Data free betting means the bookmaker pays for the data your bets use, so nothing comes off your bundle or airtime. Datafree Technologies, the platform behind Hollywoodbets’ Free Mode, says a service on it stays open to a phone with zero airtime and zero data, which is why an empty SIM can still reach the odds, your account and the bet slip.

Six bookmakers run a data free app or website: Betway, Hollywoodbets, Easybet, Supabets, Interbet and Betfred. One South African data free list names nine bookmakers, among them World Sports Betting and Gbets, whose own sites showed no working data free version, and it leaves out Interbet and Betfred.

Which data free betting app should you pick

Old phone or no space left: Hollywoodbets, Interbet or Betfred, because all three run a data free website in your phone’s browser with nothing to install.
A long sports menu: Hollywoodbets, whose Free Mode menu lists 28 sports from soccer and horse racing to volleyball.
No data at all right now: Easybet, whose own page says its data free app downloads without using any data.
Tote and the Soccer pools: Interbet, whose data free site carries Tote pools, fixed odds racing and Soccer 6, 10 and 13.
iPhone: Betway or Supabets, which both have an app on the Apple App Store, or any of the three data free websites.
Huawei phone with no Google: Betway, whose own pages send Huawei users to AppGallery.
Aviator: Hollywoodbets or Betfred, which both put Aviator on their data free websites.

Betway data free app: download and what it covers

You can bet on: pre-match and live sport, and Four To Score predictions, which Betway’s data free terms name as the whole offer.
Casino games: slots, Aviator and live casino are in the full app, where they use your data, because the terms keep data free to sport and Four To Score.
Deposits: only certain deposit methods work from the data free side, and card and Ozow deposits send you to a page that needs data, as Betway’s terms say.
Get the app from: the download page on Betway’s own site for Android, the Apple App Store for iPhone, or Huawei AppGallery, because Betway says real money gambling apps are not allowed in the Google Play Store.
On Google Play: searching Betway from South Africa brings up Betway Scores by SportCC, an app for news, scores and stats that takes no bets.
Two Betway pages: the data free offer page says data free only comes with the Betway app, while Betway Pedia still describes a Data Free site without giving its address.
Standard data charges: the offer page adds “Standard data charges will apply” under its app-only line, without saying which parts of the app that covers.
Licence: Raging River Trading (Pty) Ltd, Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board, bookmaker licence 10181496-012 in Betway’s site footer, and Eastern Dawn Sports (Pty) Ltd with the Mpumalanga Economic Regulator.

Betway puts data free inside its main app rather than a separate one, and the offer covers the sport in that app.

Betway’s data free page tells you to tap the Apple App Store or Google Play logo, but both badges run one link to appdownload.betwayafrica.com that carries the Betway homepage and no Google Play address, and on an iPhone it opens an “Open in app?” page. On Android, use the download page on Betway’s own site instead.

On an iPhone the App Store lists the app as Betway Sports Betting & Casino, sold by Raging River Trading, the company named in Betway’s Western Cape licence, and you log in with your existing username and password.

Hollywoodbets data free app and free mode

Two ways in: the Free Mode website at www.datafree.hollywoodbets.net, or a data free Android APK from Hollywoodbets’ Go To Data Free page.
The website covers the betting, so you can skip the app, and it opens in any phone browser.
New accounts: the Register button in Free Mode opens the registration form on a datafree.hollywoodbets.net address.
You can bet on: 28 sports in the Free Mode menu, plus Lucky Numbers, Live In-Play, Aviator and Shooting Star.
Also on the Free Mode home: tiles for Wheel Of Wonder, Zama Fruits, Plinko and Gold Rush among its instant games.
Slots and live dealer: tapping Spina Zonke or Live Casino by Ezugi brings up a notice that you are leaving the Data-Free zone.
You will see: “You are now in Free Mode” on screen.
Full Site button: takes you to the normal Hollywoodbets site, which uses your data.
Licence: Hollywoodbets’ footer names the Gauteng Gambling Board, the Limpopo Gambling Board and the Mpumalanga Economic Regulator, with some products licensed by the KwaZulu-Natal and Western Cape boards.

Free Mode is Hollywoodbets’ own name for data free, and the Go To Data Free page on its main site is where the two names meet, with one button for the website and one for the Android app.

Signing up inside Free Mode uses no data, and Interbet and Betfred also put a Register or Sign Up button on their data free websites. A forgotten password is different on Hollywoodbets, because Forgot Login Details takes you out of the Datafree zone to id.hollywoodbets.net.

Hollywoodbets’ blog says you can play Aviator data free, and the Aviator tab on the Free Mode home opens an Aviator page that stays on the data free address. The Aviator tile on the Casino-Games page is a different route and brings up the leaving the Data-Free zone notice, so use the tab. In data free Aviator the chat, my bets and top bet functions are off, while auto-bet and auto-cashout still work.

Easybet data free app

A free download: Easybet’s data free page says no data is used to download the app, and it is the only one of the six that says so.
You can bet: without using data in the data free Android app, as Easybet’s About Us puts it.
Slots and live dealer games: these work only on the main website, as Easybet’s data free page states.
Get the app from: the Play Data Free link in the easybet.co.za footer, which opens easybet.freeurl.co.za, where the Download App button fetches the APK.
Easybet on iPhone: the App Store carries the regular Easybet Sports Betting app, which Easybet’s pages do not call data free.
Licence: Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board, bookmaker licence 10191733-004 in the main site footer, plus Eastern Cape Gambling Board licence ECBM 029.

None of the other download pages says whether fetching the file uses data, and Hollywoodbets’ download banner in Free Mode brings up the leaving the Data-Free zone notice, so download those apps over wifi when you can.

Easybet’s data free page marks the app “This is Data Free” and the main website “This is NOT Data Free”, so you can tell which one you are on.

Supabets data free app

Android and iPhone: a direct APK from Supabets’ own site, and an app that Supabets says is available now on the Apple App Store.
Huawei: listed as coming soon on AppGallery.
Supabets call it a data free app on their download page.
What the page lists: light data use and live sports streaming among the app’s features, and the full Play Vegas suite with Aviator, slots and live tables, without saying which parts are zero rated.
Help pages: www.supabets.co.za now opens new.supabets.co.za, and its FAQ page has no data free wording, so the download page is the one place we found it named.
Licence: Portapa 2 (Pty) Ltd t/a Supabets, Mpumalanga Economic Regulator, licence 9-2-1-00055.

The download page on Supabets’ new site holds both the Android APK and the App Store button, so it is the one page you need to get the app.

Supabets do not list what the data free app covers, so note your data balance before your first bet and look again afterwards, and treat live streaming and the Play Vegas games as using data until your balance shows otherwise.

Supabets and Betfred are licensed by the Mpumalanga Economic Regulator alone, while each of the other four holds at least one Western Cape licence.

Interbet data free mobile site

A website: datafree.interbet.co.za, with Data Free in its page title.
You can bet on: horse racing with the Tote and fixed odds, Soccer 6, 10 and 13, live betting, and 19 sports under All Sport, horse racing and soccer included.
Accounts: a Register page on the data free site, and a prompt offering to install Interbet as an app.
What it covers: Interbet’s data free pages list the products without saying which parts are zero rated.
Licence: Western Cape Gambling and Racing Board, bookmaker licence 10083472-023, expiring on 30 November 2026.

Interbet’s data free site carries its racing and pools products, which suits punters who follow the Tote or play the Soccer 6 zone, where Interbet says you can track your Soccer 6 and 10 bets live.

Interbet’s pages do not spell out what is zero rated, so run the before and after balance check described further down on your first visit, and ask Interbet if anything came off.

Betfred data free mobile site

A website: datafree.betfred.co.za, and Betfred’s FAQ says it is fully web-based with no app.
You can bet on: football, horse racing, live in-play, lotto on global numbers and Aviator from Spribe, the five PLAY NOW buttons on the data free home.
The menu: Numbers, Aviator, Sports and Horses, with Login and Sign Up pages on the data free site.
Casino games: the footer links to Casino & Slots and Live Casino, whose lobby loads from a separate games address, and the SkyPilot link opens a page-not-found page.
Data Friendly Games: Betfred’s name for one casino category on its main site, a separate thing from the data free site.
Licence: Betting World (Pty) Ltd, trading as Betfred South Africa, Mpumalanga Economic Regulator, bookmaker licence 9-2-1-00039.

Betfred’s data free address opens a welcome page with a Betfred Data Free menu item and a Data Free heading, and its first tile is Aviator. The sixth tile, Full Site, carries the CLICK HERE button, which takes you to the normal Betfred site.

Betfred’s pages give no list of what its Data Free label covers, so check your data balance the first time you open anything beyond a sports bet.

How data free betting works

The bookmaker pays for your data. Datafree says a business on its platform sponsors the data for its apps and sites, so the cost goes to the bookmaker instead of your phone.
It is called reverse billing. Datafree describes its model as reverse-billed aggregation, carried across all major South African networks.
The bookmaker chooses what is covered. Datafree says it gives the business control over which apps, websites or platforms its users can reach, and the six bookmakers on this page have each drawn that line in a different place.
The platforms: Hollywoodbets’ data free address points to Datafree’s servers and its own notices speak of a Datafree zone, and the download page linked from Easybet’s Play Data Free page says Powered By Datafree. We found no platform named for the other four.

Which networks data free betting works on

None of the six bookmakers names the mobile networks its data free version runs on. Datafree, whose platform carries Hollywoodbets’ Free Mode and the download page linked from Easybet’s Play Data Free page, says its service works across all major networks without listing them by name.

That leaves your own SIM as the test. The before and after balance check further down this page takes a few minutes, and if data comes off while you are on a data free site or app, ask the bookmaker’s support team which networks it covers.

How to download a data free betting app

Go to the bookmaker’s own website. Type the address yourself rather than tapping an advert or a shared link.
Find its data free page. Betway, Easybet and Supabets give you an app, Interbet and Betfred give you a website, and Hollywoodbets offers both.
On Android, download the APK. Google Play does not carry real money betting apps, Betway and Supabets explain, so the APK file comes straight from the bookmaker’s site, and your phone will ask you to allow installs from unknown sources, a step Easybet’s own install guide includes.
On an iPhone, use the App Store. Betway and Supabets both list their app there, and Huawei users can get Betway from AppGallery.
Log in, or sign up. Hollywoodbets and Betway tell you to log in with your usual account details, and Hollywoodbets, Interbet and Betfred have a Register or Sign Up button on their data free sites.
Check you are on the free version before you bet, using the signs listed below.

Where not to download a betting app

APK download sites. A copy on another site can be changed before it reaches you, and you have no way to tell it from the real file.
Adverts at the top of Google. Type the bookmaker’s address instead.
A link someone sent you on WhatsApp.
Any app that says faster or unlocked. Real bookmakers do not make those.

The safe sources are the bookmaker’s own website, and the Apple App Store or Huawei AppGallery listing that the bookmaker’s own page links to. Betway, Supabets and Hollywoodbets each point to their app store listings from their own sites.

How to know you are in free mode

Hollywoodbets: the screen says “You are now in Free Mode”, and the address starts www.datafree.
Interbet: the address is datafree.interbet.co.za and the page title says Data Free.
Betfred: the address is datafree.betfred.co.za and the menu shows Betfred Data Free.
Betway and Supabets: the data free version is the app itself, so check you are in the app and not the bookmaker’s website in your browser.
Easybet: use the data free Android app from easybet.freeurl.co.za, because Easybet marks its main website “This is NOT Data Free”.
After you tap a link: look again, because on Hollywoodbets the password reset, Spina Zonke, Live Casino and the app download banner all bring up a notice that you are leaving the Data-Free zone.

What each bookmaker calls it

Each bookmaker has its own name for data free, and some use similar words for something else, so the table gives both.

Light data, data saving and data friendly are the bookmakers’ words for using less of your bundle, and none of the pages that use them says those games are data free. Data Free and Free Mode are the labels that mean the bookmaker pays.

Signing up and FICA on a data free site

You do not need a separate data free account. Hollywoodbets’ blog tells you to log in to its data free site with your regular account details, and Betway says you log in to its app with your existing username and password. If you are new, Hollywoodbets, Interbet and Betfred each have a Register or Sign Up page on their data free websites, and Hollywoodbets’ Free Mode login asks for your cell number and password.

Before a bookmaker activates your account it has to check who you are. Easybet’s FICA page says South African law makes a bookmaker hold a copy of your ID and a proof of address from the last three months for every account holder. Hollywoodbets asks for a copy of your ID, which you can hand in at any Hollywoodbets branch or send by fax or email, and Betway says it may take up to 24 business hours to review your documents once it has them. Hollywoodbets, Betway, Interbet and Betfred each state that no one under 18 may gamble.

Deposits and withdrawals on data free

Betway’s terms say only certain deposits can be made from its data free side, and card and Ozow deposits send you to a page that needs data, with a prompt to accept before you leave. The deposit pages on Hollywoodbets’, Interbet’s and Betfred’s data free sites open inside the data free version, but none of the six says whether the payment step itself is zero rated, so check your balance after your first deposit or pay in over wifi.

Hollywoodbets: the deposit page inside Free Mode lists options including OWNPAY, Stitch, PayFast, Zapper, Apple Pay, Ozow, Peach Payments for card and instant EFT, SID EFT, Shoprite Money Market Account, crypto and the Nedbank Top Up Voucher.
Betway: its FAQ lists i-Pay and SiD instant bank transfers, Visa and Mastercard, and OTT Voucher, with EFT from FNB, ABSA, Standard Bank and Nedbank.
Easybet: its help pages list 1Voucher, OTT, Blu Voucher, card, Ozow, Snapscan, Easyload and Easybet Instant EFT, with withdrawals by Ozow, Instant Money or the OTT eWallet.
Interbet: EFT, card, vouchers, Ozow and cash at the bank. Credit cards carry a 1.9% fee, and OTT Voucher deposits stop at R3,000 a day.
Betfred: EFT, card payments, vouchers and cash, from a deposit page on the data free site.

Welcome offers at the data free bookmakers

Easybet: a 150% match on your first deposit, taken as a sports bonus bet or as a casino bonus. The first deposit has to be at least R50 and the bonus runs from R75 to R5,000, and you unlock it by first betting a set multiple of your deposit, on sport at a minimum price or on slots, as Easybet’s deposit match terms set out.
Betfred: the data free home page shows up to R21,000 plus 750 free spins for new customers, with T&Cs applying, and its promotions page says new offers come every week across sports, casino and crash.
Hollywoodbets: the Free Mode home shows no welcome offer figure, and its games strip opens with the Soccer Punters Challenge.

Worth knowing: the playthrough, the time limit and which bets count sit in each offer’s terms rather than its headline, so read them before you deposit for a bonus.

Data free not working? Check these

Test on the mobile network. On wifi your bundle is not being used anyway, so only a test with wifi off shows whether data free is working on your SIM.
Switch off any VPN while you test. None of the six bookmakers says data free works through one.
Ask the bookmaker about your network. None of them names the networks it covers, so its support team is the one to ask if data free fails on your SIM.
Get the latest app from the bookmaker’s own download page if an app stops loading.
Go straight to the data free address. Betway Pedia notes that reaching its Data Free site from the Betway homepage needs a positive data balance, while the data free address opened directly works without data, so bookmark the address itself, such as www.datafree.hollywoodbets.net, datafree.interbet.co.za or datafree.betfred.co.za.
Try the website. Hollywoodbets, Interbet and Betfred work in the browser with no app at all.

What you can bet on data free

Sport is the core of every data free version, and some add racing, numbers games and Aviator.

Soccer. It is on the data free menus of Hollywoodbets, Interbet and Betfred, and Betway’s offer covers pre-match and live sport.
Live betting. Betway, Hollywoodbets, Interbet and Betfred all cover betting while the game is playing.
Lucky numbers. Hollywoodbets lists Lucky Numbers, and Betfred’s Numbers page offers lotto betting on global numbers.
Horse racing. Hollywoodbets, Interbet and Betfred, with the Tote and fixed odds on Interbet.
Soccer pools. Soccer 6, 10 and 13 on Interbet.
Other sports. Rugby, cricket, tennis, basketball, darts and snooker are all in Hollywoodbets’ Free Mode menu of 28 sports.
Aviator. Hollywoodbets and Betfred, both from their data free home pages.
Four To Score. Betway, whose data free terms name it beside sport.

Slots, live dealer games and live streaming are left off this list because none of the six names them as part of its data free offer.

On the data free version the bookmaker carries the data cost only for the parts it covers, and anything outside those parts comes off your bundle as normal.

What data free betting does not cover

Live streaming. None of the six data free pages says video is covered, and Supabets lists live sports streaming as a feature of its app.
Slots and live dealer. Easybet says they only work on its main website, Betway’s terms limit data free to sport and Four To Score, and Hollywoodbets shows a leaving the Data-Free zone notice when you tap them.
Downloading the app. Easybet is the only one whose page says the download uses no data, and Hollywoodbets’ app download banner leads out of Free Mode.
Some deposits. Betway card and Ozow deposits use data.
Password resets on Hollywoodbets. Forgot Login Details opens id.hollywoodbets.net outside the Datafree zone.
Anything outside the bookmaker. A news link, a social media post, your bank app. Leave the app and you pay.

Data free and your data bundle: what to expect

Your bundle should not move while you are betting in free mode.
Check it before and after your first session. That is the only way to be sure it is working on your network.
A small amount may still go, because your phone runs other apps and updates in the background, and that data is not the betting app’s.
If a lot goes, think back to what you opened, such as a deposit page, a video, a casino game or a link out of the app, and go through the checks above.
Limits: Betway’s terms let it limit data usage or switch data free off without notice, and Betway Pedia calls it a limited time offer. The other five publish no limit.
Nothing extra to join: there is no separate data free account, so you log in to the data free app or site with your normal details.

Do the before and after check the first time you use a bookmaker, and repeat it if you change SIM or network, because the bookmakers can change what their data free version covers.

Other bookmakers

Other data free lists name these bookmakers, and none of them showed a working data free version.

World Sports Betting. Its datafree address shows a Coming Soon page, and its data free page address opens a page-not-found message.
Gbets. The address datafree.gbets.co.za has no website configured, and the Gbets home page has no data free wording.
SuperSportBet. Its home page, with its Western Cape licence in the footer, has no data free wording.
YesPlay. Its BetGames page has a Low data mode option, a setting for using less data, and its home page has no data free wording.

Betting responsibly with an empty phone

Data free betting means you can place a bet when there is nothing left on your phone, so set your spending limit before you open the app. Betfred’s terms say it may only take bets from people over 18 inside South Africa, and Hollywoodbets, Betway and Interbet each say no one under 18 may gamble.

It depends on your phone. Hollywoodbets’ Free Mode website lists 28 sports and works in any browser, Betway and Supabets suit an iPhone with an App Store app, Easybet is the one whose download uses no data, and Interbet carries the Tote and Soccer 6.

How do I download the Betway data free app?

On Android, from the download page on Betway’s own website. On an iPhone it comes from the Apple App Store, and on a Huawei phone from AppGallery.

Is the Betway app on Google Play?

Is the Easybet download really free?

Why is my data free app using data?

Look at what you opened. A card or Ozow deposit on Betway, a slot, a video or a link out of the app all fall outside data free, and on Hollywoodbets a notice tells you when you are leaving the Data-Free zone.
